Children
If you are a parent, or looking after a young child, you may feel anxious about bringing them to a service. Be assured, children are especially welcome as part of our worshipping community.
They often seem to feel comfortable and at home in the building, and enjoy the colourful activity of worship, and its quieter moments.
If you feel the need to take a restless child out of the service, there is a comfortable room set aside for this. A steward will show you where.

Children and communion
Here at the Cathedral baptised children of any age are welcome to take a full part in the Eucharist by receiving the bread and the wine. We leave this to the parent’s or carer’s discretion.
When you come to the altar rail, simply tell the people with the bread and the cup what you want. If you would prefer your child to receive a blessing then please tell the person with the bread, and give the child’s name.

Godly Play
Godly Play is for 3-11 year olds, and takes place every Sunday in choir term time during the 10.30 Sunday Eucharist.
A Godly Play session includes a time to . . . · get ready · tell a story using objects and artefacts · explore the story more with open questions and discussion · respond with a free choice using a variety of materials. · enjoy a simple feast and sharing
Imagine someone who . . . · creates a space to think big · learns as well as teaches · doesn't always know the answer · builds a community · enables children to make connections · is open to the unexpected · slows down the pace · provides the tools then stands back Imagine an approach to Christian nurture and education that . . . · promotes knowledge, skills empathy, spiritual growth · develops the needs of the whole child · provides a multi-sensory approach to learning · develops language and communication skills · develops thinking skills · provides depth and reflection in every session Godly Play can help you see and do things differently.

Little Fishes
On the first Thursday of every month (except January and August) at 10.30 a group of parents and toddlers meet for Little Fishes. Little Fishes is a fast, fun, and noisy service, with stories, songs, musical instruments, craft activities, and prayers. It's perfect for babies to pre schoolers, and older ones are welcome in the holidays.
We meet in St Katharine's chapel, which is in the main Cathedral building. Pushchair access is through the side door near the tram stop. Refreshments are available, and there is no charge.
