Sheffield Diocese
The Diocese of Sheffield is an area of the country roughly corresponding to South Yorkshire whose parish churches are under the oversight and care of the Bishop of Sheffield.
The Cathedral is its centre of worship. The Bishop of Sheffield has his seat (‘cathedra’) here, and presides at Christmas and Easter services and on other special occasions. Since May 2009 the Bishop of Sheffield has been the Rt Revd Dr Steven Croft.
Cathedral clergy are often to be found leading worship in other churches of the Diocese on a Sunday and any diocesan clergy are welcome to preside at services here by prior arrangement.
The Diocese has its Office in Rotherham, and information about diocesan activities and other churches in the diocese should be obtained by contacting them or through their
website.

The Bishop of Sheffield
The Bishop's role is to provide a focus for unity in the Diocese, offering oversight and pastoral care, giving a lead in the development of a vision for the future and representing the church to the wider community. He also has responsibilities that take him beyond the Diocese and region. We exercise our ministry as a cathedral on his behalf.

Minster churches
Minster churches have an historic role as centres of ministry for their surrounding area. Recently St George’s Church in Doncaster has been made a Minster church, acting as a spiritual focus for the eastern part of the Diocese. Rotherham Parish Church has also been made a Minster church, serving the central area between Doncaster and Sheffield. We are delighted to work in partnership with them.

Parish visits
We are always pleased to host visits from parish groups across the Diocese. Tours and refreshments can be arranged, and worship. If you are considering a quiet day or a pilgrimage we may be able to offer what you are looking for. In the first instance contact the Cathedral Secretary, Julie Fletcher.

Borrow a priest
On scores of occasions through the year Cathedral clergy are away from the Cathedral, preaching and presiding at Eucharists across the Diocese. If your church is short of a priest to lead worship on a Sunday then do feel free to get in touch. We will be pleased to help if we can. Contact Julie Fletcher.
